Lifting Literacy: One Chapter at a Time was Portland Public Schools’ response to a citywide literacy challenge. The campaign was built on community partnerships, creative storytelling, and IRL activations like the Bookmobile (brought back after many years), Golden Key Quest, and Story Time with the Portland Timbers’ Timber Joey.
More than a campaign, it was a cultural shift. Literacy became visible, joyful, and shared. And PPS proved that when communities come together, we don’t just teach reading, we celebrate it.
The best part? This is just the beginning, and PPS is leading from the front.
